Streetcorner started as a bold initiative in urban art, founded by Mikael Rickman, with the vision of transforming public spaces through mural painting. What began as the acquisition of a spray paint agency under the name Streetcorner has evolved into one of Sweden’s leading platforms for mural art, known for its social perspective and co-creative processes.
In 2024, as Streetcorner celebrated its 10-year anniversary, the founding members decided to pursue different directions due to evolving interests and ambitions. This marked the conclusion of an era while also paving the way for new initiatives inspired by Streetcorner’s legacy.
Over the past decade, Streetcorner has carried out a wide range of projects that combine artistic excellence with social engagement. Some of the most notable achievements include:
An initiative that brought together artists and the public to celebrate urban art in the capital.
An international collaboration where Streetcorner worked with local communities in Chile to create art with a social message.
An initiative aimed at integrating art into rural environments, promoting cultural exchange and engagement outside major cities
A large-scale mural project that transformed an expansive wall into an artwork, enhancing the city’s visual landscape.
A project combining botany and art, with murals of hollyhocks adorning the city’s walls.
An iconic project featuring three large babies painted at Järla Sjö station, which became a catalyst for larger mural initiatives in Stockholm.
Through collaborations with schools, Streetcorner has engaged students in designing and painting murals in their surroundings, fostering creativity and participation.
